The Attorney General Githu Muigai said the decision to close the camp seeks to strike a balance between country's security interests and her obligations under the International Humanitarian Law.
Speaking at the opening of the 4th Regional seminar on Implementation of International Humanitarian Law at the Kenya school of Government, Nairobi Yesterday, The AG said the country has taken great strides under the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) to liberate large parts of Somalia. he added that safe, secure and stable environment has been created in the country.
"The government as for many years and at times on its own played a significant part in ensuring peace and stability returns to Somalia. it is important to note that this decision is based on the practical realities of protracted refugees status that have had adverse effects on socioeconomic and political circumstances of host nations and especially in Kenya," said prof. Githu
