FIRE OUTBREAK

Fire broke out yesterday evening outside Barracks hostels consuming the fence behind the hostel. Efforts by security to establish its cause went in smoke but it is suspected that it was caused by a student who threw burning charcoal in the dried grass.

According to Misik, the security man, the fence went a blaze calling for quick action. “Luckily enough, we had firefighting equipments with us and thus we were able to put off on time.” The question is, is the disaster planning, preparedness and management adequate in Moi University?

  1. Moi university should implement disaster management plan. It's unfortunate that a big institution doesn't have fire brigade station.

  3. Fire is a destructive calamity, it should be handled with care especially during dry spells where wind is known to dominate
